Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 11, 2026
KlipVault is built on a simple principle: your data belongs to you. We don't collect, store, or sell your personal information. This page explains what data we handle and why.
1. What We Don't Do
- We do not store downloaded videos on our servers.
- We do not track your browsing history or download activity.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.
- We do not require account creation or personal identification.
2. Information We Process
When you use KlipVault, we process only the minimum data necessary to provide the service:
- Video URLs — You paste a video link, and our server fetches metadata (title, thumbnail, available formats) from the source platform. We do not store these URLs after the request completes.
- Browser cookies (extension only) — The KlipVault browser extension can extract session cookies from your browser for specific platforms (Instagram, X/Twitter, Reddit, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest) to enable downloads of authenticated content. These cookies are passed directly to your local yt-dlp installation and are never uploaded to our servers, stored, or shared.
- Payment information — If you purchase KlipVault Premium, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details. Stripe handles all payment data in accordance with PCI-DSS standards.
3. How Downloads Work
KlipVault uses two download methods, depending on the platform:
- Direct downloads — For most platforms, our server extracts a direct download URL and returns it to your browser. The actual file transfer happens directly between your browser and the video host. We are not an intermediary.
- Extension + native host — For platforms requiring authentication or HLS streams, the KlipVault browser extension communicates with a locally-installed Python script (klipvault_host.py) on your computer. This script runs yt-dlp as a subprocess. No data leaves your machine during this process.
4. Cookies and Tracking
We display Google AdSense advertisements on the website. Google may use cookies to serve personalized ads based on your browsing history. You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google's Ad Settings.
We also use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage (page views, country-level traffic). This data is anonymized and cannot be used to identify individual users.
5. Data Retention
We do not retain video URLs, download history, or user activity logs. Metadata requests are processed in real-time and discarded immediately. The browser extension stores download history and daily usage counters only in your browser's local storage — this data never leaves your device.
6. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Stripe — Payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Google AdSense — Advertising. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics — Aggregate traffic analytics. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Vercel — Website hosting. Subject to Vercel's Privacy Policy.
7. Security
All website traffic is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. The browser extension communicates with the native host through Chrome's Native Messaging API, which uses a secure, sandboxed pipe. The native host source code is open-source and available for inspection.
8. Children's Privacy
KlipVault is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of KlipVault after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
